Week 78+ THE END!

Well, I can’t believe that this day has finally come. I still don’t feel like in just 2 days I’m going to be home. It was SO SAD having to say bye to everyone – investigators, companions, leaders, members, etc. Definitely the worst part. But I’m also excited to go home and see Mom and Dad and everyone again. But yeah, definitely some mixed emotions going on.
week 78 3
This week was an interesting one. My area, which has been an area of sisters for the last 5 years, is closing, and they’re going to put 4 elders here now. So we’ve been showing them the area these last few days, and even though that’s been a little crazy, it was also a lot of fun. However, the highlight of this week was when on Thursday, we went to Queretaro for a MISSION CONFERENCE, because no one other than Elder D. Todd Cristofferson came to visit!
week 78 1
That’s right, I got the huge blessing of being able to meet and listen to an Apostle of the Lord, in person, one week before I left. It was kind of one of the most amazing experiences of my life, one I will never forget. I learned so much in those 2 and a half hours and the Spirit was just SO STRONG. The words he shared with us were just a huge answer to my prayers, but the best part was when he thanked us for our service in the name of the Lord. It felt like the Savior himself was thanking me, through one of his chosen representatives and witnesses.
And yeah, you can say I got pretty emotional. He then left a blessing on our mission that was also just so beautiful. He told us how he felt a clear and strong impression that the Lord was pleased with our mission. It’s not a perfect mission, but the Lord is content with our efforts and with our desires. I don’t think there could have been a better way for me to end my mission, than to hear an Apostle tell me that the Lord was pleased with my work. There really is no way to describe everything that I felt, but let’s just say that I am SO SO SO grateful that my Heavenly Father allowed me to be present during that conference.
It was also the first time that the whole mission got together, because that never happens. So it was also great seeing everyone again. (By the way, I’m in the center of the 4th row, behind a really white girl, in case you want to pick me out).
Anyway, it’s been a good 18 months. I have learned and grown SO MUCH and I know that this has been the best decision I have made in my life. There really isn’t anything better that can be done than to serve the Lord. I thought before the mission I was converted, but I’ve realized that this is a process that will continue throughout my whole life. I still have ways to go, but I know that thanks to the mission (and of course everything leading up to it), I have the foundation I need to endure to the end. I know that this is truly the Church of Jesus Christ and that Joseph Smith was the instrument in His hands to restore it once again over the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet called of God, and I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that Christ lives and that He is my Savior, and that thanks to His Atonement, I will be able to return to His presence once again. I love you all and I can’t wait to be able to see you all again!

In downtown Celaya 🙂

So first things first:

Like, I can’t believe it. My brain still hasn’t registered it completely. But I’m really excited for this upcoming week. The work is really taking off here in Celaya and we’ve been seeing miracles pop up all over the place. It makes me sad that I have to leave in the middle of all of this progress, but I’m also glad that whoever comes to my area will be able to see all of the final fruits. Hna Weatherhead and I are just giving it all we’ve got and we have the goal to really leave our area strong and ready to harvest. And so far, so good.

Anyway, I don’t know what else to say except that things are going good, the Church is true, and Christ lives. Until next week – and yes Mom, I will have time next Monday to write my final letter as Hna Sanabria.

Hermana Sanabria 🙂

(from last week’s trip to Comix) How cool would it be, to be in a trio with Batman??

With some of the elders of the zone, last week.

Week 75 + Interviews!!!!

So this week we had a multi-zone training with Presidente and also our interviews, and it was awesome! We watched Elder Holland’s ‘Feed My Sheep’ video from the MTC and it was such a huge answer to my prayer. I definitely loved the part where he talks about how Peter and the disciples went back to their nets after Christ died, and how once Christ is resurrected, He goes to them and says to follow him. I’ve been kinda sad about the mission ending, but that story/video was just a huge testimony builder for me and reminded me that just because my full-time mission is coming to an end, that doesn’t mean my mission is over. It will never be over for me, in fact it’s just the beginning and yeah.

As for today, we went out with almost all of our zone to this mall and ate at this awesome restuarante called Comixs, which was basically a nerd’s celestial kingdom. There were lifesize statues of all of teh characters from DC and Marvel and we ate a ton of chicken wings and it was just a lot of fun. Then we all went to get Krispy Kreme afterwards and yeah, you can say I got pretty stuffed.
And yeah! That’s kinda it for this week! Until next time,
Hna Sanabria

Week 74!!!!

So this week has been pretty crazy! Lots of stuff went down, but it’s all good. Unfortunately, the work was a little slow, but that’s just mission life sometimes – you’ve got your ups and your downs. Anyway, I don’t have much to report, so here are some pictures instead!
We had a pizza party with our zone and district leaders today. They have a really nice courtyard outside of their apartment complex, so we all hung out there while they did their laundry, hahaa. But yeah, it was a pretty chill day. Tomorrow we have interviews with Presidente and then Wednesday there’s a multi-zone conference with him as well, so I’m excited. And yeah!
Until next time,
Hermana Sanabria

Week 73 !

So this week we had zone council, which was a lot of fun. It was the same stuff we went over during leadership council, except instead of us hearing it from Presidente, we the leaders had to give it out to the zone. So not much new stuff, but it was still a good learning experience. I feel like I’ve finally figured out how all of this leadership stuff works, and of course it’s right before I leave. In fact, that’s how I’ve been feeling about basically everything lately. We’ve been finding so many people and learning how to teach in the way of the Lord, plus the ward is improving so much and is starting to really support us and there is just so much progress going on here in Celaya and all I want is to stay another transfer to see everything through.
But of course I know that my time is coming to an end, and even though it seems a little unfair at times that I have to be leaving at the point that I feel like I’m at my best as a missionary, I’m also just really grateful for the fact that the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to get to this point. I’ve been learning so much and looking back to where I was 17 months ago, I feel like I’ve grown a ton. So now is the time to just live everything I’ve learned to the fullest and enjoy my time left. And so far so good. The mission really is a beautiful thing and I honestly can’t picture my life without it.

Matching outfits with the zone leaders! Probably the most important yet also most complicated thing we plan for zone council…. haha, just kidding.)
And yeah. So that’s what’s been going on. The work has been going good and this week just flew by. For P-day, we went to play soccer with some of the elders of our zone and then we did our monthly outing to Costco, which is always a lot of fun.
And that’s it for this week! Until next time,
Hermana Sanabria
PS: Shout out to the Gibsonia 7-8 year old Primary class! I got a card from them this week and it most definitely made my day. 🙂

Week 72 + 21st Birthday + Leadership Council!

camila cake

So first things first. It’s SO WEIRD to think that I’m 21 now. Like, I still don’t believe it. The good thing is that I did have a rather good birthday. My district leader called me at like, 6:35 AM to sing me las mañanitas (the Mexican birthday song), which caught me off guard because I had totally forgot it was my birthday when I woke up. Then, what with it being on Tuesday, I was in my district council all morning and afterwards my zone leaders brought me a cake and sang me las mañanitas again and we all ate and hung around a bit. Then we worked like normal and finished the day ordering pizza and buying another cake. So yeah, you can say I enjoyed it.

Leadership Council

Then on Thursday was Leadership Council, which was awesome like usual. It was a little bittersweet, though, what it being my last one and all. It definitely stunk having to say goodbye for the final time to a lot of my companions. And it didin’t help that the main theme of our council was about how we as a mission are like a family and we were all getting all lovey-dovey on each other. Yeah, goodbyes are definitely the worst part about the mission.

And yeah. It was a good week though. We’ve got a lot of work going on and I’m just trying to enjoy every second that I have left.

Week 71 + San Miguel, Dinner with the Bishop, + A BAPTISM!!!!

So first things first: WE HAD A BAPTISM ON SATURDAY!!!!!
Inline image 1
We found Carlos at the start of this transfer that just ended and holy cow. Can you say golden investigator? He already had 3 assistances to the church when we started teaching him (his girlfriend is a member), and he has grown and changed so much. It has been such a blessing teaching him and helping him prepare for those sacred covenants he made this weekend. There truly was no better way to finish this transfer.
Speaking of transfers, I am officially finishing my mission here in Celaya! Hna Weatherhead and I stay as companions and I’m so happy because we have so many plans and goals we want to accomplish. It’s so weird to think that I’m at the end now, and that I’m beginning my last transfer. Yeah it’s a little sad, but I’m also really excited for everything this transfer has in store for me. I know I’m gonna see some miracles here before I go.
Like I mentioned last week, I was in San Miguel for divisions and it was so much fun! I loved working with Hna Coello, but more than anything, I loved seeing how much success they were having. San Miguel is a pretty tough area and to see the sisters working so hard and reaping those fruits they sowed was pretty awesome. It was also great to see some of the members during the ward council on Wednesday. Since my transfers from San Miguel came as a surprise to me, I didn’t get the chance to say bye to anyone. And so I finally got that opportunity last week and so I was happy.
Inline image 2
Then, once I came back to my area, we had to prepare for a dinner we held for our bishop and his family. We invited him to our apartment and made subs and pasta salad and it was really good.
Inline image 4
So yeah. Busy week but very rewarding. As for our P-day, since we didn’t have transfers, we just went to the bus station to say bye to everyone who did. We all went out to get some tortas (sandwhiches) and tacos at this little place around the corner, that’s kinda a trademark for the missionaries here in Celaya and hung out taking pictures before everyone had to transfer to their new areas. Lots of fun.

And yep. That’s it for this week! Until next time!

Week 70 + Zone Conference!!!!

Inline image 2

So this week we had a conference with the two zones of Celaya and it was kinda amazing. Seriously, Presidente is kinda the best. The Spirit was just so intense and I received so many answers to my prayers on how to finish my mission as strong as I possibly can. Hna Weatherhead and I just walked out of the conference SO pumped to work and bring as many souls unto Christ as possible. Such a spiritual high, I just love it!
Anyway, this week went well. Lots of work to get done and we’re just trying to give our best to the Lord. Even though a lot of our plans fell through, we’re not letting that get to us. And that’s kinda it for the week.
Now for today: I’M BACK IN SAN MIGUEL!!!!!
No, I didn’t get special transfers. We just decided to spend our P-day here and it’s been a blast! As sister training leaders, we have our little ‘sister district’ that we’re in charge of and my companion and I had been wanting to do an activity with them for a while now. So when we saw Hna Mejorada on Thursday, we asked her for permission and she was like ‘Yeah, go for it!’ and that’s what we did! We grabbed all of the sisters here in Celaya and we came to San Miguel and spent the day in this really awesome botanical garden park thing and yeah. So much fun!

Inline image 3
It feels so weird yet good to be back in my old area. I’m actually going to be staying here for a few days for divisions, which I’m super pumped about. And yeah.
So that’s it for this week! Until next time,
Hna Sanabria

Week 69!!!

So this week was a pretty good week. We did divisions with the sisters in our zones, Hermana Pederson and Arias, and it was actually pretty successful. We got a lot of work done and things are definitely looking up here in Celaya.
As a zone, we’ve been working super hard on how to help improve our areas. For like the whole month, we’ve been the zone with the lowest assistances to church. And so two weeks ago, we decided to do a zone fast. We made a list of things we wanted to include in our fast, and then each companionship was assigned a specific day to fast. We ended this fast Sunday and holy cow. The results have been miraculous! We went from bring the least amount of people to bringing the 3rd most in the mission. We were all so happy when we saw the results and no not just because now we won’t have the assistants down our backs anymore. I think our testimonies of fasting have gotten so much stronger and we all know it’s because of this sacrifice that the Lord blessed us.
Anyway, that’s kinda it for this week. Now for some pictures!
Inline image 3
We got together to play soccer again as a zone (well, half because the other sisters didn’t come and there’s a district that’s like an hour away, so they never come into Celaya). I almost threw a goal in too! My soccer skills are definitely improving since I’ve been here
Inline image 2
Totally celebrated 4th of July with a pancake breakfast! Just one of the perks of having an American companion.
Inline image 6
Zone activity at Costco!!!! After we finished playing, we headed over to do some grocery shopping. Unfortunately during divisions, they cut our power for like 3 days, so all of our food went bad. Hence the Costco trip. But we had a ton of fun and we got to have chicken bakes for lunch, so I’m not complaining.
And yeah! Until next week!
Hermana Sanabria!
